BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

One 10-minute treatment—a few tiny injections—and within days there's a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, which can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

In 2005, almost 3.3 million procedures were performed with FDA-approved BOTOX® Cosmetic.

BOTOX® injections are performed in order to temporarily eliminate the appearance of crow's feet, frown lines, forehead lines, bunny lines and other types of fine lines and facial wrinkles as well as treating hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating). BOTOX® injections are minimally invasive and require no recuperation period or down time. We will be able to determine if you are a good candidate for BOTOX® injections.

During BOTOX® injection treatment, the MD or RN will administer a single or several carefully placed injections into specific treatment areas. The BOTOX® cosmetic solution works by safely paralyzing the muscles that cause facial wrinkles to appear. The entire procedure takes no more than 20 minutes. The results of a BOTOX® injection will gradually become apparent in the next three to five days after treatment and can last as long as three to four months. Additional BOTOX® injections may be administered as needed as the effects do wear off with time.

BOTOX FOR FROWN LINES

Frown lines and "worry lines" are by far the most common site of Botox injection. Squinting and scowling repeatedly over time can cause vertical lines (knows as the 11s!) to form between the eyebrows, producing an angry, worried, tired or stressed appearance. Botox can be used to relax these scowling muscles, allowing for a more relaxed and good-natured appearance. Furthermore, Botox injected between the brows (glabella) have been shown to improve tension headaches and even migraines related to the repeated tightening of these muscles in the brow.

Frown lines caused by excessive muscle tension are commonly treated with Botox.

BOTOX FOR FOREHEAD LINES

Throughout the day, we often lift our eyebrows without even noticing it. This repeated movement causes deep and eventually permanent horizontal lines to form across the forehead, which gives an aged or stressed appearance. Botox can relax the forehead muscles in order to decrease the appearance of these lines and keep them from worsening.

Forehead lines are created by the frontalis muscle which is the muscle that pulls the eyebrows up.

With advancing age, typically by the 40's or 50's, the eyebrows droop further and we have to work even harder to try to keep them up which in turn make the forehead lines even deeper. Botox treatments to the forehead will help improve these horizontal forehead lines and keep them from becoming permanent.

BOTOX FOR CROW'S FEET

Smiling and squinting will eventually leave lines extending from the corners of the eyes to the cheek. These lines around the eyes are have been given the unflattering name of crow's feet. Botox placed in the crow's feet area allows you to smile without causing these lines to worsen. Botox can also improve the appearance of already existing lines.

BOTOX FOR BUNNY LINES

Repeated squinting can cause fine lines to show up on either side of the nasal bridge, creating a "bunched up" appearance. A small amount of Botox on either side of the nasal bridge will allow these muscles to relax during squinting, preventing these lines from getting deeper and even improving the already existing lines.

Nose wrinkles known as bunny lines caused by excessive muscle tension are commonly treated with Botox.

BOTOX FOR HYPERHIDROSIS

Hyperhidrosis is a chronic disorder of excessive sweating that can affect any body part, including the underarms, the palms, the soles of the feet, and the face. By blocking the release of acetylcholine, which activates the sweat glands, Botox® injections can relieve excessive sweating, a life-altering procedure for those suffering from the embarrassing ailment, and were approved for use under the arm in September 2001.

Just imagine not having to worry about sweating during a special event in your life, a vacation, a party or your wedding.

It's All About Freedom of Expression. . .

After treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic, you may look in the mirror and see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. But BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance. You can still frown or look surprised—without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

BOTOX® Cosmetic works by temporarily reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause those persistent frown lines that have developed between your brows over time.

Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary. If you do not continue treatments, the frown lines between your brows will gradually look like they did before treatment.

Of course, we know that seeing is believing. So check out our Before & After photos of men and women who have had BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments and see for yourself!
